The origins of the holiday

From a historical perspective, 1 August commemorates the oath taken by the three founding cantons in 1291. From a culinary point of view, this celebration is closely associated with typically Swiss recipes, such as the traditional 1 August bread roll. For more than 50 years, the 1 August bread roll has been an essential part of Swiss National Day. Easily recognisable by its cross, beautiful golden colour and small Swiss flag decoration, it is loved by young and old alike. Try our delicious Thermomix® recipe today!

Vegetables deserve more attention
