Multi-level cooking: the power of steam

With the Thermomix® mixing bowl, simmering basket, Varoma®, and Varoma® tray, easily and simultaneously cook ingredients, layer by layer. Get inspired by our recipe suggestions and take your cooking to new levels of deliciousness!

Layer by layer

Use different levels to create an “all-in-one” main dish (think protein, vegetables, and potatoes), or use the different levels to prepare a full meal with a starter, main dish, and dessert at the same time. For optimal cooking results, be sure to layer your ingredients in the right order!

Bottom layers (mixing bowl and simmering basket): place the ingredients that take the longest to cook

Top layers (Varoma® and Varoma® dish): place your quickest cooking ingredients at the top where you’ll easily be able to remove them and set them aside when cooking time is up!

The Papillote technique

The papillote technique consists of wrapping food in baking paper and closing it tightly so that the steam is concentrated inside the parcel. With this technique, your food will steam and cook within its own juices, bringing out even more intense flavours and a super juicy texture!

Extra juicy parcels

Quick tip: for even more flavour!

Flavour your steaming water to add even more body and aroma to your food. Some ideas to add a punch of flavour: wine • vinegar • spices • citrus peel • aromatic herbs • garlic • onion

Did you know?

The full capacity of your Varoma® allows you to cook up to 8 portions of fish, meat, eggs, chicken, or vegetables. It also allows you to increase the capacity of a main dish that is being prepared in the mixing bowl - simply cook some ingredients in the Varoma® and add them to your main recipe. For example, cook spinach and carrots that you can add to your soup when serving!

What dishes can you use in your Varoma®?

You can cook directly in Varoma®. However there are some recipes that require their own dishes, such as ramekins or tins for cakes and desserts. Choose heat-resistant materials such as ceramic, metal or silicone. Only use glass or plastic if they are heat resistant. Be sure to pay attention to the dimensions of your dishes, making sure that they properly fit in the Varoma® and allow it to be kept closed!
